Read Queen
Hello Gorgeous! Adding another item on your to do list seems overboard, but it’s for the betterment of you. So, if you are not already a reader, I am going to ask you to be.
Undoubtedly, there are so many positives that are linked with sitting down with a book. It’s a great way to relieve stress, whine down, and it can help with falling asleep. The real point I want to make is about the type of book you should choose.
We all love a steamy romance, but there’s another genre that feeds some of your other nondominant needs as well. I am referring to the self-help books. Self-help books can be valuable tools for personal growth, empowerment, and self-improvement. Who doesn’t want that type of improvement?
Why Self-Help
Here are some reasons why reading self-help books can be important:
- Self-Awareness: Reading about various topics such as emotions, habits, and relationships, individuals can gain deeper understanding of themselves and their behaviors.
- Empowerment: They offer practical strategies, techniques, and advice for overcoming challenges, achieving goals, and realizing one’s potential.
- Inspiration and Motivation: Reading about the experiences and successes of others can fuel motivation and instill a sense of possibility and hope.
- Personal Development: Exploring these topics, individuals can acquire new skills, expand their knowledge, and enhance their overall well-being.
- Problem Solving: Self-help books offer practical solutions and strategies for addressing common problems and challenges. Whether it’s managing stress, improving relationships, or boosting self-confidence, these books provide actionable advice that can help individuals navigate life’s ups and downs more effectively.
- Perspective Shift: By exposing oneself to new ideas, beliefs, and perspectives, individuals can broaden their understanding of themselves and the world around them, leading to personal growth and transformation.
- Validation and Support: Knowing that others have experienced similar struggles and overcome them can offer comfort and reassurance, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
- Continuous Learning: They offer opportunities for individuals to explore new topics, challenge their assumptions, and expand their horizons, fostering intellectual curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
- Cost-Effective Therapy: For individuals who may not have access to or prefer not to seek traditional therapy, self-help books can serve as a cost-effective alternative. They offer insights, exercises, and guidance that can complement or supplement professional therapy and counseling.
- Empathy and Understanding: By learning about different perspectives and struggles, individuals can develop compassion for themselves and others, fostering deeper connections and empathy in their relationships.

I Chose My Book, Now What?
Start reading! If you are not an avid reader or are the kind of woman who has difficulty finishing a book, try setting a time frame for when to complete it and stick to it. Some of the most successful and financially well-off people credit their lifestyle to reading a lot.
Personally, I have set a goal to attempt to read one book a month. That is roughly 30 days to separate your pages between. Sometimes chopping things down into smaller sizes makes the task not seem so daunting. A 300-page book is only 10 pages per day and for the busy momma or scheduled filled woman, it may be more manageable.
Non-fiction is not everyone’s cup of tea, but another tip I found helpful was alternating one fiction with one self-help/nonfiction. Of course, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that sometimes I would read my fiction option a little slower or rush through my nonfiction choice to get to back to the drama of a love story. It’s about the information absorbed, not the pace.
Overall, self-help books can play a valuable role in personal development, offering guidance, support, and inspiration for individuals on their journey toward self-discovery and fulfillment. However, it’s important to approach self-help literature critically and discerningly, recognizing that not all advice may be applicable or beneficial to every individual’s unique circumstances.
