7 Ways to Be More Productive Throughout the Day

productive woman

Being a mother, I know I stay busy, but I question if I really am being productive? Obviously I can see tasks getting completed, getting kids dressed and fed, laundry done, dinner cooked, dishes cleaned, but I still am left at the end of the day feeling like there was a lot I didn’t get done.

I wanted to work on being more productive so I could feel more accomplished at the end of my days. Additionally, I wanted to enhance that skill so when I get “mommy time,” I can utilize it effectively. Even with a village, sometimes getting solo time can be far in between.

In order to be better, you haev to do better and so I am sharing what I found on productivity.

What and Why

For those unaware, productivity is a way to measure how effective your ability to complete tasks are.

Being productive plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth. It allows us to make the most of our abilities and opportunities.

Some benefits including:

  • Increases more leisure time.
  • Gives you a sense of personal fulfillment.
  • Helps you improve your time management skills.
  • Improve performance and maximize your potential.

If rebuilding yourself includes personal development, this is a characteristic that should be at the top of your list to work on.

Here are 7 ways to be more productive throughout the day.

Plan your Day the Night Before: Having a rough idea on what you want to accomplish the day before is one of the best things you can do to better prepare yourself to be more productive. By eliminating the stress of guessing what needs to be done, you are able to better focus and complete the tasks you set.

Make a Detailed To-Do List: Having a list of what all needs to be done is a good way to be more productive. It gives you a guideline to follow so you are not guessing what needs to be completed for the day. I love a good check list! Nothing makes you feel more accomplished than being able to check a box showing you’ve got work done.

Prioritize and Evaluate: Once you have a completed list of what all you want to get done, it is time to prioritize and evaluate what is there. First, make sure all of the tasks are realistic and reasonable to be accomplished in the time frame you are looking for. You don’t want to set yourself up for failure by having and unreasonable task. Next try and put your To-Do list in order of what is the most important or time sensitive. If you are unable to complete all of your list at least the most important ones would be completed.

Minimize Any Distractions: Identifying current and potential distractions can help you stay focused. Potential distractions can include social media, loud noises, messy rooms, or even other people. If you know you are easily deterred, set yourself up for success by being in a minimally distracting environment.

Complete One Task at a Time: As amazing as it is to complete several things at once, multitasking can actually decrease productivity. Starting and finishing one task at a time can help decrease potential errors which helps with time management. Having to go back and fix any mistakes can take more time, affecting your productivity.

Take Breaks Regularly: Burnout happens a lot faster than you may think so taking breaks are vital in being more productive. What is burnout? Burnout is mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion that can come from continued stress. Taking a minute to pause and rest can help refresh you mind before jumping back in to check that task off your to-do list.

Reflect and Adjust: Even with plans and check lists, sometimes things still don’t go as planned. That is just the factors of life. When this happens, celebrate what you were able to accomplish and then take the time to reassess your productivity and identify ways you can improve for the next day.

Don’t Forget to Pin it!

Learning and implementing ways to better your productivity benefits you in the short and long term. Building the appropriate habits, even if it is one at a time, will form the foundation for consistency.

If you want to have more control over your time, work towards increasing your productivity! However, always remember to do it in a safe and healthy way.

Always, Tiffany
