It is almost halfway through the year so why am I talking about a vision board? Isn’t that supposed to be something you do in January?
Actually, you can create a vision board any time of the year. It also does not only have to be for just one year either.
I am making the assumption that if you are here, you have some sort of an idea of what a vision board is. However, if my assumption is wrong, let me tell you more.
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a collection of pictures that represent your dreams, goals, and desires that you wish to achieve. It is used to be a visual and physical reminder of what you want to accomplish or gain. Normally you would place it where you can see it every day as a form of motivation or inspiration.
No two vision boards are the same. It is a great way to release some creativity considering there is no wrong way to go about it.
Here are a few examples of some that I found online.
They also can be any size you like. The one I made last year was literally on a poster board. The one I made this year fits in a 8×8 picture frame.
Why I Love Them
I am a check list girlie. Being able to see my tasks helps me feel more organized and completing them gives me a sense of accomplishment.
I make a new one every year. It always feels nice to be able to make changes because I finished or received something that was on my board from the last year.
As previously mentioned, it definitely is a source of inspiration throughout the year. I set mine on my nightstand so when my alarm goes off in the morning it is the first thing I see.
Making a Vision Board
Vision boards can be as simple as finding pictures and pasting them on a piece of paper or poster board, however, if you are like me there is a little more organization to it.
Categories
The first thing I like to do before I get started on my board is create categories for my goals. I wanted to make sure that I covered all of my desires and aspirations so for me this was the easiest way to do that.
The categories that I choose every year are:
- Family
- Social
- Love
- Health
- Finance
- Personal Growth
- Spiritual
After I have these written down, I begin to list what goals I have for each of these topics.
Goals
This is where you get a little more detailed with what you want to accomplish. You can list as many as you’d like. For me, I limit mine to 3-5 so I don’t feel overwhelmed.
Here are a few of my personal goals for this year:
Family: family trip twice a year, monthly dates with the kids
Social: make more friends, monthly brunch with the girls
Love: weekly dates, weekend getaway every other month
Health: healthy weight gain, develop gym routine
Finance: add 5k to savings, increase my credit score
Personal Growth: read a book every month, find a hobby
Spiritual: daily prayer, study bible
Decorate your Vision Board
Not much explanation needed here! You can print out specific pictures or find some old magazines to cut them out and put your board together.
If you don’t want to use pictures, you don’t have to. My vision board this year only has words and I love the simplistic look of it, but my one last year was filled with pictures. How you complete the final project is totally up to you.
Don’t forget to pin it!
Take Away
Vision boards are a great way to help manifest your goals and keep you motivated to getting them accomplished. The most important thing I want you to take away is not to feel pressured to complete everything in a year.
Some vision boards are 3-5 year plans. Even though I make a new one every year, it is primarily for the change in visual. Most times there are goals that get carried over. An example is that I want to get a house. I work towards it every year but there are a lot of factors that go into purchasing one.
Set your mind to believing they will happen and continue to work to make them happen.
Best wishes for the rest of your 2024!
Always, Tiffany
