Loving Yourself First: 22 Solo Date Ideas

solo woman, self care, date

What is Loving Yourself?

For a while I could not answer this question because I truly did not know. As a mother of three kiddos, their wants and needs always came first without question. I never had time to think about what I wanted or needed outside of a good night’s rest.

However, one day I looked in the mirror and it finally clicked. You can’t be a good mother if you aren’t good yourself. Something had to change and start adding me to my list of priorities.

Loving me doesn’t change the love I have for my kids, it only benefits them more. It was time to take charge and give me the attention I so desperately needed.

My thoughts began with questioning what would fill my ‘internal cup of happiness’ in ways that did not include my children or partner. Who wants to wear the mother hat or the significant other hat all the time? I wanted to focus on me. What would make me feel better, put a smile on my face, make me feel refreshed? That is how I generated this list.

Planning a Solo Date

Step 1: Pick something you normally wouldn’t do or something you have always wanted to do.

I know as a mother there are plenty of activities and places I would like to see but without having to pull out my double stroller and worry about snacks and diapers. This is time for you so make it memorable.

Step 2: Mark your calendar and stick to it.

Of course emergencies pop up, but remember, the goal is to start prioritizing you first. You deserve this time, take it.

Step 3: Treat this like you would any other date.

If you normally would get dolled up before meeting up with a stranger or your significant other, then do this for yourself as well. You must get your mind into believing you are worth it just as much. If you would do it to meet someone you don’t know, do it for yourself.
